it never rains..........................

my  recent  run  of  bad  luck  continues.  the  bloody  washing  machine  went  wrong  this  morning.  did  a  load  of  whites,was  making  lot  of  noise,which  i  ignored  lol.put  load  coloreds  in,it  washed,got  to  rinse  cycle.  and  stopped.  dead.  luckily  i  switched  off,and  managed  to  get  door  open        and  it  pumped  out,although  a  lot  of  water  over  kitchen  floor.    thank  god  for  vaxes        lol.  luckily  i  do  have  insurance         but  it  will  take  ages  to  get  it  sorted.         hand  washing   not   a  pleasant  thought.  luckily  i  know  my  neibour  will  let  me  use  hers.  really  will  be  glad  when  this  year  is  out.   not  been  good  year  at  all.

the  xmas  lights   are now  on  my  profile  pics.  sorry  not  added  them  on  here,still  finding  my  way  around   blog.   please  feel  free  to  look  at  them.  the   night  views  arent  brilliant,too  many  flashing,and  my  poor  camera   couldnt  cope.   its  only  a  cheap  camera,but  it  does  take  good   pics.  will  try  again  at  later  date  to  capture  better  shots.

 mum  goes  to  chiropodists  in  morning,toe  still  very  sore,she  really  is  suffering      bless   her.   i  hate  to  see  me  mum  in  so  much  pain.

  xmas  cards  are  now  starting  to  arrive.  i  got  thinking,ive  lost  touch  with  nearly  all  my  old  friends,the  only  time  i  hear  from  them  is  a  xmas  card.  and  i  know  im  not  alone,  many  carers  find  the  same  thing.  we  cant  just  meet  up  and  go  to  pub  like  we  used  to,we  care.full time.and  it  is  hard  to  get  away.   and  in  my  case,im   usually  hard  up  and  can't  afford  to  go  out.  so  people  drift  away.we  lose  touch.just  a  xmas  card,  that's  all  we   now  have  to  remind  us  of  happier  times.  which  is  why  im  on  here  so  much. ive  been   online  now   5  years     but  it  is  only  this  year  i   started  using  chatrooms.        before  i  never  could  get  into  them,often  too  fast,too  cliquey,but  1  night  i  found  a  small  chatroom,only  opens  when  the  main  room  is  full.and...............nice  people.       and  i  just  want  to  say  thanks.   thanks  to  all  the  many  friends  ive  made  this  year,the  laughs,and  friendship.many  are  now   friends  in   the  "real"  world,as  well  as  online.if  it  wasn't  for  you,my  life  would  be  a  lonelier,poorer  place.         please,if  you  are  in  a  chatroom,chatting  and  laughing  with  your  mates,take  the  time,just  to  say  hi,to  any  new  person  entering.  they   may  be  shy,lonely,fed  up.         1  word    can  lead  to  so  much.  take  care  all

all alight

  very  tired,hell  of  a  day,got  lights  finished  outside  before  the  rains  came.  and  came  they  did,along  with  gale  force  wind.  hope  lights   still  there  in  morning  lol.  had  them   on  to  see  how  they  look  this  evening,considering  im  11  sets  down  on  what  i  used  to  put  up  (  they  got  bad/faulty/worn out )  looks  nice.  decided  to  do  both  lounge  window  and  mums  bedroom,which  is  a  bay  window,and  i  have  a  blue  xmas  tree  in  it.   again,cut  right  back,no  lights  around  mums  window,just  a  string  across    and   the  tree  lit,along  with  a  nativity  scene,load  of  soft  toys,tinsel,looks  nice.          so,after  saying,nope,not  putting  any  lights    up  this  year,i  all  lit  up  lol.  or  will  be              shant   start  putting  them  on  until  week  before  xmas                    costs  quite  a  bit  to  run           theres   1   30 metre  rope  light   rated  at   850   watts                plus  3  more  smaller         in  total   around  25  sets.         used  to  be  38            omg          bit  over  top   lol.   i  see  dennis   a  neibour  3  doors  down  is nearly   finished  doing  his,always  has  good  display,lady  across  roads  also  looks  good.    do  wish  evry1  would  just  try  and  put  even   1  set  in  windows.   makes   it  feel  more  like  xmas.        not  that  i   feel  very  christmassy.           oh  well,going  bed,back  is  killing  me,take   care  all.

getting lit up

its been  horrendous weather  last 2 days,heavy  rain and wind.but  yesterday  i did manage  to  get  the  majority of  the  outside  xmas lights  up.just  4  to  do,and   they  are  stand alone lights.2  santas i  snowman  and  a  gnome.(dont  ask.   lol)   im  down  over  9  sets,were  getting  bad,which  i  dumped  last  year.so  ive  had  to  completely  revamp  how  ive  done  it  this  year. should  look  good  though.hope  to  finish  today,and  hopefu;lly  get  the  inside  windows  done.   shant  use  the  flashing  lights  i  normally  use  in  lounge.found  out  last  year they  kept  knocking  my  broadband  connection  out.  tut.

we  went  shopping  yesterday,and  managed  to  do  bit  xmas  present  shopping  done.  arent  buy1 get  1  free  offers  good?  lol          short  entry,want  to  get  on.  take  care  all

floored

ive  been  quick  to  critiscise  the  workmen  ive  had  just  lately,so  it  is  a  lovely  change  to  be  able  to  praise  one.   the  man  who  came  to  repair  the  bathroom  floor.  he  arrived  at  9am,looked  at  hole  left  in  cement  by  bill  n  ben,asked  if  i  had piece  of  carpet  to  match  the  hall,luckily  i  had  spare  bit  left  and  had  it  near  front  door  to  protect  main  carpet.i  made  him  cup  of  tea,and  got  out  of  his  way.   result,a  perfectly  repaired   vinyl  floor  in  bathroom,and  a  carpet  that  you  would  never  know  wasn't  one  piece.   brilliant  work.        im  really  pleased.    unlike  the  bathroom  door,i  realised  this  morning  there  is  a  three quarters  od  an  inch  gap  under  it  !!!!!!!     mum  caught  her  foot  under  it,thankfully  not  bad  toe.  carpenter  obviously  allowed  for  us  having  a  shag  pile  carpet  in  bathroom          tut.  think  he  cut  too  much  off          lol.   oh  well. 

was   our  day  to  have  hairs  done  at  Fakenham,mum  still  has  hair  coloured  bless  her,and  although  in   bad  pain  we  been   and  she   looks  great.         fish  n  chips  for  tea          which  were  lovely.        been  awful  day,wind,rain.  but  mild.  hope  i  can  get  out  to  put  more  xmas  lights  up  tomorrow.  take  care  all

Im adoored. lol

at  long  last,we  have  a  door  on  the bathroom.!!!!!!    since  last  thursday  we  have  been  open  plan,lol.  carpenter  turned  up  at  9.15,went  off  at  2.result,1  nice  new  door. privacy.  bliss. and  we  heard  from  floor  layer,he's coming  in  morning  to  finish  floor,so  hopefully  i  can  get  it  decorated  out  soon,have  to  leave  the  hall  wallpapering,but  at least  get  the bathroom  painted  and  cabinet  put  back  up.

couldnt get  on  this  morning  as  carpenter  was  in  the  way,but  this  afternoon  i  have made  a  start  putting  xmas  lights  up,at  least  the  4  big  rope  lights  are  all  in  place.lot  more  to  do  though.

need  i  say  that  mums  dressing  on  toe  was  off  this  morning??  i  redressed  it  for  her,had  thought  it  was  getting  better  but  she  now  called  me   nearly  in  tears,in   wicked  pain,have  redone  it  for  her  and  hoping  she  can  have  a  good  nights  sleep.theres  gout  in  it  as  well  i  fear,and  that's  why  it's  so  painful  for  her.  really  nasty,hate  to  see  me  mum  in  so  much  pain.

now  tried  to  get  into  journals  chat,with  no  luck,wont  connect,dont  know  why.  i  had  a  file  from  aol,this  afternoon,and  since  then  i  am  on  a  new  setup,instead  of  connecting  through   dsl,i  now connect   through  dialbb,was  worried  and  asked  aol  online  help,but  they  say  that  it's a  new  server.            more  problems  i  bet.lol   take  care  all

Whistling down the wind

i  paid  the  price  yesterday  for  saturdays  fun  with  the  new  tv,lifting  that  about  did  my  back  in,so  i  was  in  agony  when  i  got  up.was  an  horrendous  day,galeforce  winds,pouring rain.  i  cooked  lunch,full  roast,and   went  back  to  bed  in  afternoon,mums friend  there  so  i  could  relax.

got  up  this  morning,no  tracey  until  friday,she  has  some  holiday  due,and  we  decided  we  didnt  want  anyone  else  until  she  returns.i  got  the  bathroom  all  stripped  out  ready  for  the  carpenter  to  come  and  fit  door,and  floor  repairs  to  be  done.  as  promised  by  workmen  friday.   i  went  over  to  see  my  friend  pam  for  a   while,mum  happy   with  new  tv,nurse  had  been  at  8.15  and  dressed  toe  for   her.   (and,it,is,      STILL  ON.!!!!!!!!!)   im  only  15  minutes  away,so  i  sometimes  nip  over  for  hour  or  so.    anyway,mum  rang  me  just  after  10.  no  sign  of  workmen.  i  wasn't  too  concerned  then,but  i  was  when  i  got  home  at  11.15,with  still  no  sign.   after  lunch  i  rang   our  housing  trust,unfortunately  i  got  an  answer  phone,left  a  message,that  i  wanted  door  fitting        now  please??      had  no  reply,but  i  may  have  forgot  to  leave  my  phone  number,i  was  rather   angry   lol

the   long  and  short  of  it  is.............................still  no  bloody  door.  its  now  been  5  days  off,its  unhygeinic,embarassing  for  mum,and  me,and  bloody  ridiculous. im   not  happy,and  if  tomorrow  there  is  still  no  sign,im  going  to  be  making  some  very  rude  phonecalls.  im  starting  to   wish  i  had  never  asked  for  it  to  be done,ive  got   a  load  of  decorating  to  do,evrywhere  is  filthy,and  ive  got  the  biggest   bloody  door  opening  ive  seen.     hope  door  opens  after  all  this.   it  must  do.   they  would  never  make  that  silly  mistake.  ha  ha             would  they?????   take  care  all

T V heaven, oil hell

well,last night i reserved a  television  on line  at  argos,went   off  to  fakenham  this  morning  to  collect  it.full  marks  to  argos,gave  the  friendly  assistant  the  code number,all  ok,got  packet  batteries  to  take it  just  over  the  hundred pound  total,and  got  £10 argos  voucher  straight away. very  useful.the  t v  was  ready  for  me  in  2  minutes   and  the  whole  transaction   took  5  minutes.  well  done  argos. as  i  had  the  voucher   i  bought  a  new  set  christnas lights  for  outside,will  replace  1  set that  blew  last  year,i  only  had  to  pay  £1.24     lol.

off  to  morrisons,few  bits  shopping  i'd forgotten  yesterday,and  home.  box  unpacked,new  tv  plugged  in,switched  on  and  tuned  in.      great.       mum  happy  with  her  new  toy.  it's  her  sanity,her  one  pleasure  in  life,like  this  thing  here  is  for  me,and  it  was  worth  £100  i  dont  have  and  will  really  have  to  try  and  work  out  how  i  am  going  to  pay,to  know  she  is  happy. she  doesn't   go  out  except  on  a  friday,hardly  sees  anyone  except  me  and  tracey  the  carer  first  thing,so  yeah,i  think  she  deserves  a  little  pleasure,dont  you???

now,just  one  more   thing,  my  mum  is  86,meaning  she  gets  the  £300 winter  fuel  payment,now  that  sounds  a  lot  of  money,but  consider  this.   4  years  ago,we  had  central  heating  installed,and  i  had  a  full  tank  of  heating   oil,1300  litres  at  a  cost  of  £224.        i  ordered  last  week,as  she  got  her  fuel  payment,just  500  litres.cost?? £223.  thats  a  rise  of  2  and  a  half  times  in  4  years.  makes  that  fuel  payment  a  bit  mean  now.  and  it's  only  £200  if  you  60  to   80.  oil  is  still  cheaper for  us,we  used  to  buy  2  cwt  of  coal  a  week,that  is now  £13.50  a  cwt,plus  1  storage  heater  in  her  bedroom,which  cost  then  50p  a  night  to  run,so  if  you  add  that  up,we  would  be  paying  now  over £35 a  week.  electric,gas,oil.  all  gone  through  the  roof.   no  wonder    more  elderly  people  die  in  this  country in  the  winter  than  in  any  other  country.  many  are  scared  to  put  the  heating  on,it  says  a  lot  about  our  society.  old  age  pensioners,senior  citizens,call them  what  you  want,if  there  is  one  near  you,living  on  their  own,PLEASE  be  a  good  neighbour,keep  an  eye  on  them  this  winter,see  they  are  warm  enough.  one  day,it  will  be  us,us  who  struggle  to  cope  with  rising  fuel  costs.sobering  thought.  keep  warm  and  safe   this  winter,take  care  all
