HAPPY NEW YEAR

I  WISH  EVERYONE  A  VERY  HAPPY  NEW  YEAR.  may  2008  bring  peace, joy, and  happiness to  all.

2007  was  a  bad  year  for me,2  minor  ops,  confirmation  of  MS,  worry  about  mums  health, money  worries.   yes  very  bad.           but  also  good.  ive   met  some  lovely  people on  here, found  a  lot  of  friendship, and  love.        so,not  all  bad.

2008,hopefully soon  get  that  assessment, bit  of  respite  maybe, who  knows.  all  i  know,is  that      im  a  carer,  and  on  behalf  of   every body  who  cares  and  looks  after  someone,  thankyou          the  internet  brings  us  all  together, and  for  those  carers    who   dont  have  any  life away  from  their charges, please, use the chatrooms, get  talking, and  enjoy  life  a  bit.     take  care  all

delighted sort of

yesterday  was  cold, but   sunny, really  windy   after  all  the  rain  we  had  night  before. as  my outside  xmas  lights  were  now  so  dry, wind  had   dried  them  nicely,i decided  they  were  coming down.  we've   hardly  had  them   on,1)  bloody  dear  to  run  them, electric  is so  dear,    and   2)  they  knock  my  broadband  connection  out.!!!!     weird,i  use an   anti spike  device  to  protect  computer, but  switch  on  the   big  rope  lights,i  lose  aol  connection.   anyway, they  all  down, stored  in  summer  house  until  i   decide  where  to  put   them.won't  be  going  up in loft  again,i  can't manage  to  lift  them  up.   a  friend  usually  comes  over, but  he's  no  longer around.

inside  window  lights  are  still  up,going  to  take  those  down   tuesday,  they've  looked nice, and  being  static, dont  interfere  with  aol. oh  well, that  was xmas. roll on the new  year.  mums  toe  still  hurting, but  least  the  infection  is gone, not  dressing it  now.

i  was  asked  by  a  reader  of  my journal,am  i  going  to  change  it  now?  will  i  change  it  to  1  about  having  MS,and  how  it  affects  my  life?       i  answered    that im  not  an  MS  sufferer           who  is  a  carer                i  am  a  carer      who  has  MS.   the  MS    is  just  part  of  me  now,   my  mum    comes  first.    this  person  also  asked, what  will  happen  to  your  mum  if  you  get  worse?    how  will  you  cope?    can  you  cope?                 i  don't  know           is  the  honest  answer        i  really   just  don't  know.        i  do  know, mum  is   so  worried  for  me.and   my  friends.    between  us  all,im  sure  i  will  find  a  way.   take  care  all.

Down but not out

Funny, all  this  time   i  been  so  sure  i  had  MS,  was  relieved  as  i  said  to  finally get  it  confirmed.   and  i  was.    no  problems.   until.   last  night  i  went  on  the  MS Societies  web  site,  thought  i  would   pay  it  a  visit.   it  is  very  good, and  i  saw  a  recently  diagnosed  pack      and  a  booklet  about MS,free, and  ordered  both, also  asked  for  details  to  be  sent  about  joining.  i  was  fine, until  i  was  filling  in   the  order  forms           and   had  tears  rolling  down   my  face.    basically  dear  readers,i  howled  me  eyes  out.       so  much  for  being  brave  mort.         it  just  hit  me,as  i  read about  this  nasty  disease,i  really  DO  have  it.  and  it  scares  me.       my  mum  relies  on  me  for  evrything, thats what   being  a  carer  is  all  about.   caring.   what  will  the  future  hold  now??     i  already  know  that  i  am  worse  than  4  years  ago,my  last  scan.   much  more  obvious  now.        so  i  cried.   not  just  feeling  sorry  for  myself, self  pity  is  NOT  me.     but  for  mum.   because  she  knows  i'm  not  feeling  well, and  worries  about  me,and  she  shouldn't  have  to.   bless  her  she  is  in  so  much  pain  herself, this  just  one  more  pain.

still  feeling  bit  down, but  determined   to   carry  on  as  usual.  christmas  day,i  will  cook  lunch      and  make sure  mum  enjoys  it.

shopping  tomorrow, not  much to  get, just some  fresh  vegetables,  try  and  find  mum  a  little  something  for  xmas  morning,  and   soon  it  will  be  over  for  another  year.  take  care  all         may  you   all  find  peace, joy, love  and  happiness  this  christmas, and  in  the   new  year.    morton

Told you i was ill lol

I  HAVE  MS.  there       written  down  not half  so  scary.      went  to  hossy,my  appointment  dead on  time,dr.C  is  a really  nice  man,i  was  with  him  over half  an  hour,he  went  through  the  MRI scan  i  had last  year, compared  it  to  1  from  4  years  ago, explained  that the  grey  areas   (3  on spinal  chord   5  in  brain)  had  increased, and  that  the lumbar puncture   showed   there  was  a  chemical  present   blah  blah               and     he  is  sure  now  that  it  is  MS.

Now i  first  had  problems  over  7  years  ago        maybe  8     noticed  pins  and  needles  in  my hand         and  some   problem  with  coordination  sometimes.  my  GP   Dr.M   sent  me  to the  norfolk  n  norwich  hosp.    where  i  was  treated  by  the  most  supercilious little     git      i  ever   met  in  me  life,i had  2  scans   a  year  apart,  he  completely  ignored  what  i  had  to  say, put  me  on  tablets, said  i  had  a  viral  infection  of  the  spinal  chord.  last  time  i  saw  him  was over  2  years  ago, and  i  was  supposed  to  be  having  another  scan.  instead          he  told  me  to  carry  on  taking  the  tablets, get  plenty  of  exercise  (!!!!!!!)  and   stop  dwelling  on  it,come  back,2  years  time, dont  expect  any  change               next.      my  GP  werent  impressed  and  demanded  a   second  opinion,  he  knows  me,knows  i  dont  complain, been  in  lot  pain  with  back  trouble  for  years. so   i  met  dr.C  who  immediately  ordered  another  scan, then   another   6  months  later, and  last  year     a  lumbar  puncture.         now,as  i  say       MS.   feel  like  sending  Dr.Dickhead  a  xmas  card           Told  ya  i  was  ill.   lol     i  have  to  see GP  in  2  weeks  time, can  stop  taking  tabs  im  on,they  of  no  use  !!!!!   and  there  is  a dedicated MS  nurse  coming  out  next  few  weeks  to  talk  to  me.              im  a  bit          shell  shocked.  i  always  say  i  have  MS     because  its  more  understandable  than  "viral  infection  of  the  spinal  chord"          but  now   its  real, that  i  DO  have   it.    im   really   shocked.  had  to  tell  mum             so  just  matter of  factly  said  oh  i  got  ms           not  bad  (  i  dont  have  it  too  bad       at  the  moment )    be  ok              thankfully  it  washes  over  her lot of  the  time.  dont  worry,it  wont  beat  me        still    be  me        whatever.

now,   guess  what???  you  know my  recent  bad  luck?? cant  be  anything  else  i  hear  you   say.               oh  yes  there  can  lol    this  morning, before  hosp.  my  beloved   cat  sooty  was   lying  on  lounge floor, just  put her   her  water   down   in usual  place, made  cuppa.  as  soon  as  i  opened   fridge  door                 cat       whoooosh        wanting  some  milk, mutter  mutter,go  n  fetch  dish  to  put  milk  in,as  i  bent  to  pick  it up,keeping  eye  on  her  as  she  gets  round  your  legs,my  bloody  mobile  phone   fell  out  of  my  shirt  pocket, hit  the  dish         n  plopped  into  the  water  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!  fished  it  out, dried  it,but  im  afraid  the  screen  inside, lcd  screen  was  cracked, and    it  dont  work.         many  bad  words  said.         so  i  had  to  buy  another                     with  money i  dont  have  and  cant  afford.   cheapest  was  at  tescos          got  motorola  razr         nice          45quid  on offer            one  prob.  i  could  have any  color  i  like          as  long  as  it  was                        whispers        pink                           omg              still.it  is  a  nice  pink     lol         take  care  all

Thursday 20 December 2007

rain again,more pain

i took car into  garage at 8.30,just  small garage, not far from  my  best friend pam,so  went round  hers  to  wait, and   have a coffee.  brian  had booked  it  in for  me,as  he  said  if  i  didnt  get  tracking  sorted im  going  to  ruin  new  tyres.  mechanic  said  would  be  done  by  11,took  my  mobile  number  and  i  walked  to  pams.   hadnt  been  round hers  long and  phone  rang, garage,    bad  news   said  he         reason  its   cutting  out  tyres  is       steering  ball  joint  gone.  no  wonder  it's  been  rattling  all  this   while.   going  to  be  done   friday  after  xmas, but  instead  of  a  bill  of  about  30 quid            it  will  be  about  £150.    oh  dear.           really  cant  afford  it,but  it  must  be  done.   so,more  bad  luck.  the  really  worrying  thing  is..............MOT  was   end  october, passed, just  advisory  that  tyres  were  worn, being  scrubbed on  inside, tracking   prob.out.           it  should  never  have   passed.       and  the  mechanic  who  does  my  car, should  have  seen   it  was  gone  before  he  took  it  to  be  MOT'd.  also, the  drive  shaft  gaiter  is  missing  a  clip, again, its  obvious   it's  been  missing  a  long  time, and  again, that  is  an  MOT  fail.  not  happy.

anyway,at  least  i  was  home  in  good  time, and  ready  for housing   trust  health  and  safety  lady, and  contractors  manager   to arrive.  dead  on  time  too.   both  inspected  the  work  on  bathroom  door, looked  at  gap under  door, and         agreed  with  me.  dangerous.    further,it  was  pointed  out  that if  anyone  fell  near  the  toilet,no one  could  get  in,as  door  opened  too  close  to  toilet  pan.   i  had  told surveyor  that.!!!   contractor  did  try  and  tell  me  the  gap  was  so  door  would  open  over  toilet  mat.  yeah  right       lol.    anyway,it's  been  decided  we  are  going  to  have  a  concertina  type   folding  door  on  it,so  that  will  give lot  more  space  inside  bathroom.  i  am  quite  happy  with  that.  also, going  to  tidy  up  wall, prepare  it ready  for  me  to  paper, and  paint  the  frame.          also, going  to  replace  the  new  fan  in  there, used  to  be  a  moisture  sensor  type,if  steamy  from  shower,or  damp  atmosphere   it  started  itself, also  if  light  switched on,it  came on  automatically, and  continued  to  run  5  mins.after  switched  off.         when   i  had  rewire  few  months  ago  (memory  of  which  far  far  too  painful  to  contemplate  lol)  it  was  replaces   by  a  fan  which  only  works if  you  pull  its  switch  chord, goes  off  as  soon  as  it is  turned  off,no  sensor, and  bloody   useless.   bathroom  is  already  going  black  from  mould.         so  thats  good.

writng this at 1am,    soon  going  to  bed,  had  bad  night  last  night,im  getting  a  lot  of  pain,  MS  or  whatever  it  is  has  flared  up  with  a  vengeance.  must  know  im  going  to  hospital.       really  will  be  glad  to  see  the  back  of  2007.   not  been  good  year,in  fact         bloody  awful.         apart  from  meeting  some  lovely  people  on  here                     thank  you  all            you  keep  me  sane.     and  one  in  particular.        thanks, you  know  who  you  are.   xxx       take  care  all

absent friends and family

took  wreath, and some more  holly  to  my  dads grave today, and  put  holly  and  ivy   on  grandparents.      looking  round  churchyard,  the  different  wreaths  looked  nice on  the  graves, some  were  obviously  expensive, others  more  simple, some  home  made   like  mine.   all  got  one  thing  in  common,  remembering  a  loved  one  at  christmas.  this is a  sad  time  of  year  for  those  who  have recently  lost someone  dear, and  i  feel  for  them.      im  feeling  very  down,  i  started  this  blog, because  i  wanted   to  give  a glimpse  into  what  being  a  carer  is,seem  often  to  have  gone  off  the  rails, but  i  asked  for  a   carers  assessment    over  5  months  ago, last  i  heard, was  going  to  be  another  8  weeks.  that  was  up  last  week,so  i  emailed  the  ladies  office  who  does  them, but, guess  what?  due  to  illness, staff  shortages, cutbacks, acts  of  god,it  will  now  be  the  new  year.  sometime.

i  have  a  hospital  appointment  this  friday, with  the  neurologist  who  is  treating  me,hopefully he  will  have  the  answer  as  to  whether  i  do  have  MS,or  if  it's a viral  infection  of  the  spinal  chord.  i  had  a  lumbar  puncture  last  year, which  was  supposed  to  answer  that, but  i  been told  its        "inconclusive",which  is  really  annoying  because  i   would  not  have  gone  through  with  it,if  i  had known.  oh  well, sure  they  know  what  they  are  doing,  after  all.it's  only  been   7   years  since symptoms  started.     lol

will  keep  you   all  posted,  car  goes  in  thursday, for  tracking.  cutting the  inside  of  my  front  tyres.  same  day, housing  trust  health  n  safety, and contractors  foreman.are  coming  about  bathroom  door.so,hope  wont  take  long.        dont  know  when  i will  write   another  blog.                get  xmas  over  with,  take   care  all

hollys revenge

after  the  success  in  making  a  wreath  for the  door,i  decided  i  would  try  and  do  one  for  dads  grave  this  year, mainly  because  they  are  so  expensive, been  rather  an  expensive  month.    so,got  a  thick  piece  of  wire, taped  it  into a  loop, wired   xmas tree  branch cuttings   round, and  then, holly.     now, ive  got  some  lovely  holly, lot  of  berries  for  the  first  time,it  seeded  itself,i  never  planted  it,and  has  grown  into  a  nice  shaped  tree.  but           oh  boy,is  it  sharp.   very  prickly.anyway,i  got  my  hands  pricked  to  bits, but  finished  it,and  decided  to  put  in  my  car, ready  to  take  up  churchyard  monday.  as  i  walked  round,a  neibour  was  going  past  with 2  wreaths  in  his  hand,on his  way  to  churchyard.  so  we  had  a  compare.  lol   he  had  paid  £6  each, lot  smaller        3  manky  cheap  plastic  flowers.( mine    are  material  and  i  put  6  on )very  thin,no  berries  on  holly, and  was  very  complimentary  about  my  efforts.    rather  pleased   lol

had   nice  lunch, mum  still  in  lot  of  pain, but  toe  looks  much  better,  really  hope  she  soon  fully  recovered.   take  care  all

torched or not

mums  toe  is  healing  slowly, chiropodist was  pleased  with  the  big  toe, just  small one   still  bad, nurse  came  and  dressed it,and  has  left  me   load  of  dressings,as  shes  now away   for  xmas  hols.  pleased  how  it  looks  and, give  her   her  due, has  done   good  job.

i sent  off long  letter  of  complaint  to  housing  trust  about bathroom  door, caught  my  bloody   toe  under  it.and  today, had  email  from  their  Health  and  safety  officer.  having a meeting  at  mine  soon  to  look  at  it.    good.

Now,please can  i  just  say  a  few  words  about  some  emails  that  are  being  circulated, there  are  several  variations, but  all  the  same  theme. that  basically,if  you  receive  an email, ( and  here  are   the  ones  i  know, marked    merry  christmas, happy  christmas, yule log, festive   greetings, happy  holidays,)  even  if  its  from  a  friend, dont  open it.  that  it  may  conceal  a  new  deadly  computer  virus.

This  virus  is  supposed  to  be  called   an  "olympic  torch" virus, and  when  email  is   opened,it  immediately gets  into  your  adress  book, duplicates  itself, sends  itself  to  all  your  contacts, then ......................it  burns  out  sector Z  on  your  hard   drive.  there  is  no  known  defence,it  was  discovered  only  yesterday,CNN  calling  it  the  most  destructive  virus  ever,Mcafee  got  no  defence,Microsoft  are  in  a  panic.    sounds  awful.   and  it  asks  that  you  forward  the   warning  to  evryone  you  know.          AND  IT  IS  COMPLETE  GARBAGE.  THERE  IS  NO  SUCH  THING,NO  VIRUS,ENTER  OLYMPIC TORCH VIRUS  INTO  SEARCH,YOU  WILL  FIND  LOADS  OF  INFO.      COMPLETE  AND  UTTER  RUBBISH.

This  chain email  caught  me  out  last  year.  i  sent it  to  every  tom, dick  and  harriet  i  knew.                     my  face  was  red  for  weeks.   i  wasnt  alone.many  others  did  too.  then  it  was       osama bin laden  is  dead   email  title.  but   with  xmas  here, and  many  of  us  sending  greetings, its  particularly  nasty.  if  you  get  one  of  these  chain  mails, please  remember it  was  sent  to  you  in  good  faith, and  the  person  sending  it  is  not  to  blame.   take care all

in a spin

you hear  so many  horror stories  about  after   sales  service  of  big companies,so  it's a great pleasure  for me  to  say, well  done  Hooover Candy.their engineer  arrived  at  3.10,nice  friendly  chap, started  washing  machine, which  to   my  surprise    was  now  turning  the  drum, said   "  oh  yes, brushes  gone  in  motor",checked  on  his  laptop  that  i  had    full  cover  for   the  service  charges, parts   were  already  covered  by  hoovers   5  year  guarantee       that  id  taken  out,    (machine  5  years  old  in    jan.  lol)  went  to  his  van, came  back, and  5  minutes  later  was  putting  it  back  together.  total  time  at  mine,25  minutes, and  a  washing  machine  in  full  working  order.   so  that  is   one  piece  of  good  luck.             take  care  all

Monday 10 December 2007

p.s. lol

well   got   photo  on,but  no  space  for  text     ermmmm         anyway, the   wreath  on  my  front  door  i  made  today.   quite   proud.lol      in  case  you  wondering   2  reasons  for  the  white  paper,1)to  bounce   flash  off, very  dull  day.  and  2)  to  cover  my  door  number  up  lol           most  probably  visible  in  other  pics.but  why  advertise.  you  all  may  turn  up  wanting  a  coffee         lol.

took  mum  to  chiropodists, big  toe  is  healed  nicely, and  doesnt  need  dressing  anymore.  the  other   is  still  bad, and  full  of  gout.  so  thats  been  dressed  again.

just  spent  an enjoyable  hour  filling  in  job  satisfaction  questionairre on  my   bathroom  door  for  housing  trust.  they  only  gave  a  small  box  for  comments.just  filled   up  an a4  sheet  with  long  letter.    i  can  get  my  hand  under  door.!!!!!   bloodt  daft.maybe  carpenter  thought  we  had  a  shag  pile  carpet  in   loo??  oh  well, take care all.  p.s.     just  found  out  how  to  add  text          lol          but  cant  be  bothered  to  change  it

wreathed in smiles

Sunday 9 December 2007

it never rains..........................

my  recent  run  of  bad  luck  continues.  the  bloody  washing  machine  went  wrong  this  morning.  did  a  load  of  whites, was  making  lot  of  noise, which  i  ignored  lol.put  load  coloreds  in,it  washed, got  to  rinse  cycle.  and  stopped.  dead.  luckily  i  switched  off, and  managed  to  get  door  open        and  it  pumped  out, although  a  lot  of  water  over  kitchen  floor.    thank  god  for  vaxes        lol.  luckily  i  do  have  insurance         but  it  will  take  ages  to  get  it  sorted.         hand  washing   not   a  pleasant  thought.  luckily  i  know  my  neibour  will  let  me  use  hers.  really  will  be  glad  when  this  year  is  out.   not  been  good  year  at  all.

the  xmas  lights   are now  on  my  profile  pics.  sorry  not  added  them  on  here, still  finding  my  way  around   blog.   please  feel  free  to  look  at  them.  the   night  views  arent  brilliant, too  many  flashing, and  my  poor  camera   couldnt  cope.   its  only  a  cheap  camera, but  it  does  take  good   pics.  will  try  again  at  later  date  to  capture  better  shots.

mum  goes  to  chiropodists  in  morning, toe  still  very  sore, she  really  is  suffering      bless   her.   i  hate  to  see  me  mum  in  so  much  pain.

xmas  cards  are  now  starting  to  arrive.  i  got  thinking, ive  lost  touch  with  nearly  all  my  old  friends, the  only  time  i  hear  from  them  is  a  xmas  card.  and  i  know  im  not  alone,  many  carers  find  the  same  thing.  we  cant  just  meet  up  and  go  to  pub  like  we  used  to,we  care.full time.and  it  is  hard  to  get  away.   and  in  my  case,im   usually  hard  up  and  can't  afford  to  go  out.  so  people  drift  away.we  lose  touch.just  a  xmas  card,  that's  all  we   now  have  to  remind  us  of  happier  times.  which  is  why  im  on  here  so  much. ive  been   online  now   5  years     but  it  is  only  this  year  i   started  using  chatrooms.        before  i  never  could  get  into  them, often  too  fast, too  cliquey, but  1  night  i  found  a  small  chatroom, only  opens  when  the  main  room  is  full.and...............nice  people.       and  i  just  want  to  say  thanks.   thanks  to  all  the  many  friends  ive  made  this  year, the  laughs, and  friendship.many  are  now   friends  in   the  "real"  world,as  well  as  online.if  it  wasn't  for  you,my  life  would  be  a  lonelier, poorer  place.         please,if  you  are  in  a  chatroom, chatting  and  laughing  with  your  mates, take  the  time, just  to  say  hi,to  any  new  person  entering.  they   may  be  shy, lonely, fed  up.         1  word    can  lead  to  so  much.  take  care  all

very  tired, hell  of  a  day, got  lights  finished  outside  before  the  rains  came.  and  came  they  did, along  with  gale  force  wind.  hope  lights   still  there  in  morning  lol.  had  them   on  to  see  how  they  look  this  evening, considering  im  11  sets  down  on  what  i  used  to  put  up  (  they  got  bad/faulty/worn out )  looks  nice.  decided  to  do  both  lounge  window  and  mums  bedroom, which  is  a  bay  window, and  i  have  a  blue  xmas  tree  in  it.   again, cut  right  back,no  lights  around  mums  window, just  a  string  across    and   the  tree  lit, along  with  a  nativity  scene, load  of  soft  toys, tinsel, looks  nice.          so,after  saying, nope, not  putting  any  lights    up  this  year,i  all  lit  up  lol.  or  will  be              shant   start  putting  them  on  until  week  before  xmas                    costs  quite  a  bit  to  run           theres   1   30 metre  rope  light   rated  at   850   watts                plus  3  more  smaller         in  total   around  25  sets.         used  to  be  38            omg          bit  over  top   lol.   i  see  dennis   a  neibour  3  doors  down  is nearly   finished  doing  his, always  has  good  display, lady  across  roads  also  looks  good.    do  wish  evry1  would  just  try  and  put  even   1  set  in  windows.   makes   it  feel  more  like  xmas.        not  that  i   feel  very  christmassy.           oh  well, going  bed, back  is  killing  me,take   care  all.

getting lit up

its been  horrendous weather  last 2 days, heavy  rain and wind.but  yesterday  i did manage  to  get  the  majority of  the  outside  xmas lights  up.just  4  to  do,and   they  are  stand alone lights.2  santas i  snowman  and  a  gnome.(dont  ask.   lol)   im  down  over  9  sets, were  getting  bad, which  i  dumped  last  year.so  ive  had  to  completely  revamp  how  ive  done  it  this  year. should  look  good  though.hope  to  finish  today, and  hopefu;lly  get  the  inside  windows  done.   shant  use  the  flashing  lights  i  normally  use  in  lounge.found  out  last  year they  kept  knocking  my  broadband  connection  out.  tut.

we  went  shopping  yesterday, and  managed  to  do  bit  xmas  present  shopping  done.  arent  buy1 get  1  free  offers  good?  lol          short  entry, want  to  get  on.  take  care  all

floored

ive  been  quick  to  critiscise  the  workmen  ive  had  just  lately,so  it  is  a  lovely  change  to  be  able  to  praise  one.   the  man  who  came  to  repair  the  bathroom  floor.  he  arrived  at  9am,looked  at  hole  left  in  cement  by  bill  n  ben, asked  if  i  had piece  of  carpet  to  match  the  hall, luckily  i  had  spare  bit  left  and  had  it  near  front  door  to  protect  main  carpet.i  made  him  cup  of  tea, and  got  out  of  his  way.   result,a  perfectly  repaired   vinyl  floor  in  bathroom, and  a  carpet  that  you  would  never  know  wasn't  one  piece.   brilliant  work.        im  really  pleased.    unlike  the  bathroom  door,i  realised  this  morning  there  is  a  three quarters  od  an  inch  gap  under  it  !!!!!!!     mum  caught  her  foot  under  it,thankfully  not  bad  toe.  carpenter  obviously  allowed  for  us  having  a  shag  pile  carpet  in  bathroom          tut.  think  he  cut  too  much  off          lol.   oh  well.

was   our  day  to  have  hairs  done  at  Fakenham, mum  still  has  hair  coloured  bless  her, and  although  in   bad  pain  we  been   and  she   looks  great.         fish  n  chips  for  tea          which  were  lovely.        been  awful  day, wind, rain.  but  mild.  hope  i  can  get  out  to  put  more  xmas  lights  up  tomorrow.  take  care  all

Im adoored. lol

at  long  last,we  have  a  door  on  the bathroom.!!!!!!    since  last  thursday  we  have  been  open  plan, lol.  carpenter  turned  up  at  9.15,went  off  at  2.result,1  nice  new  door. privacy.  bliss. and  we  heard  from  floor  layer,he's coming  in  morning  to  finish  floor,so  hopefully  i  can  get  it  decorated  out  soon, have  to  leave  the  hall  wallpapering, but  at least  get  the bathroom  painted  and  cabinet  put  back  up.

couldnt get  on  this  morning  as  carpenter  was  in  the  way, but  this  afternoon  i  have made  a  start  putting  xmas  lights  up,at  least  the  4  big  rope  lights  are  all  in  place.lot  more  to  do  though.

need  i  say  that  mums  dressing  on  toe  was  off  this  morning??  i  redressed  it  for  her, had  thought  it  was  getting  better  but  she  now  called  me   nearly  in  tears,in   wicked  pain, have  redone  it  for  her  and  hoping  she  can  have  a  good  nights  sleep.theres  gout  in  it  as  well  i  fear, and  that's  why  it's  so  painful  for  her.  really  nasty, hate  to  see  me  mum  in  so  much  pain.

now  tried  to  get  into  journals  chat, with  no  luck, wont  connect, dont  know  why.  i  had  a  file  from  aol, this  afternoon, and  since  then  i  am  on  a  new  setup, instead  of  connecting  through   dsl,i  now connect   through  dialbb, was  worried  and  asked  aol  online  help, but  they  say  that  it's a  new  server.            more  problems  i  bet.lol   take  care  all

Whistling down the wind

i  paid  the  price  yesterday  for  saturdays  fun  with  the  new  tv,lifting  that  about  did  my  back  in,so  i  was  in  agony  when  i  got  up.was  an  horrendous  day, galeforce  winds, pouring rain.  i  cooked  lunch, full  roast, and   went  back  to  bed  in  afternoon, mums friend  there  so  i  could  relax.

got  up  this  morning,no  tracey  until  friday, she  has  some  holiday  due, and  we  decided  we  didnt  want  anyone  else  until  she  returns.i  got  the  bathroom  all  stripped  out  ready  for  the  carpenter  to  come  and  fit  door, and  floor  repairs  to  be  done.  as  promised  by  workmen  friday.   i  went  over  to  see  my  friend  pam  for  a   while, mum  happy   with  new  tv,nurse  had  been  at  8.15  and  dressed  toe  for   her.   (and,it,is,      STILL  ON.!!!!!!!!!)   im  only  15  minutes  away,so  i  sometimes  nip  over  for  hour  or  so.    anyway, mum  rang  me  just  after  10.  no  sign  of  workmen.  i  wasn't  too  concerned  then, but  i  was  when  i  got  home  at  11.15,with  still  no  sign.   after  lunch  i  rang   our  housing  trust, unfortunately  i  got  an  answer  phone, left  a  message, that  i  wanted  door  fitting        now  please??      had  no  reply, but  i  may  have  forgot  to  leave  my  phone  number,i  was  rather   angry   lol

the   long  and  short  of  it  is.............................still  no  bloody  door.  its  now  been  5  days  off, its  unhygeinic, embarassing  for  mum, and  me,and  bloody  ridiculous. im   not  happy, and  if  tomorrow  there  is  still  no  sign,im  going  to  be  making  some  very  rude  phonecalls.  im  starting  to   wish  i  had  never  asked  for  it  to  be done, ive  got   a  load  of  decorating  to  do,evrywhere  is  filthy, and  ive  got  the  biggest   bloody  door  opening  ive  seen.     hope  door  opens  after  all  this.   it  must  do.   they  would  never  make  that  silly  mistake.  ha  ha             would  they?????   take  care  all

T V heaven, oil hell

well, last night i reserved a  television  on line  at  argos, went   off  to  fakenham  this  morning  to  collect  it.full  marks  to  argos, gave  the  friendly  assistant  the  code number, all  ok,got  packet  batteries  to  take it  just  over  the  hundred pound  total, and  got  £10 argos  voucher  straight away. very  useful.the  t v  was  ready  for  me  in  2  minutes   and  the  whole  transaction   took  5  minutes.  well  done  argos. as  i  had  the  voucher   i  bought  a  new  set  christnas lights  for  outside, will  replace  1  set that  blew  last  year,i  only  had  to  pay  £1.24     lol.

off  to  morrisons, few  bits  shopping  i'd forgotten  yesterday, and  home.  box  unpacked, new  tv  plugged  in,switched  on  and  tuned  in.      great.       mum  happy  with  her  new  toy.  it's  her  sanity, her  one  pleasure  in  life, like  this  thing  here  is  for  me,and  it  was  worth  £100  i  dont  have  and  will  really  have  to  try  and  work  out  how  i  am  going  to  pay,to  know  she  is  happy. she  doesn't   go  out  except  on  a  friday, hardly  sees  anyone  except  me  and  tracey  the  carer  first  thing,so  yeah,i  think  she  deserves  a  little  pleasure, dont  you???

now, just  one  more   thing,  my  mum  is  86,meaning  she  gets  the  £300 winter  fuel  payment, now  that  sounds  a  lot  of  money, but  consider  this.   4  years  ago,we  had  central  heating  installed, and  i  had  a  full  tank  of  heating   oil,1300  litres  at  a  cost  of  £224.        i  ordered  last  week,as  she  got  her  fuel  payment, just  500  litres.cost?? £223.  thats  a  rise  of  2  and  a  half  times  in  4  years.  makes  that  fuel  payment  a  bit  mean  now.  and  it's  only  £200  if  you  60  to   80.  oil  is  still  cheaper for  us,we  used  to  buy  2  cwt  of  coal  a  week, that  is now  £13.50  a  cwt, plus  1  storage  heater  in  her  bedroom, which  cost  then  50p  a  night  to  run,so  if  you  add  that  up,we  would  be  paying  now  over £35 a  week.  electric, gas, oil.  all  gone  through  the  roof.   no  wonder    more  elderly  people  die  in  this  country in  the  winter  than  in  any  other  country.  many  are  scared  to  put  the  heating  on,it  says  a  lot  about  our  society.  old  age  pensioners, senior  citizens, call them  what  you  want,if  there  is  one  near  you, living  on  their  own,PLEASE  be  a  good  neighbour, keep  an  eye  on  them  this  winter, see  they  are  warm  enough.  one  day,it  will  be  us,us  who  struggle  to  cope  with  rising  fuel  costs.sobering  thought.  keep  warm  and  safe   this  winter, take  care  all
