Not a happy bunny. I had to go out this morning for while, got home and mum said."had a telephone call, from social services, saying that they cant get me into day care yet",now when the first smiling social worker came, she suggested mum may like to go once a week to a day care centre,"wont that be nice for you, playing bingo, and chatting?". mum had said she would try it,but when the O T social worker came other week we told her mum wasn't interested. winter is fast approaching, she loves her telly, and would rather be disembowelled than play bloody bingo. so,she told nice lady on phone, that it's fine, and that she wasn't going anyway.
Then the postman came. large brown envelope, adressed to Mr.M.Lake,i opened it,and out fell a large booklet, entitled Who cares. the official carers handbook.of which i have 3 copies already.very useful. and a letter.
The envelope adressed as i said to Mr.M.Lake. The letter inside started Dear Mr.Morton. thass a good start i thought lol. got worse. went on,we have recently received a referral for a carers assessment for you, blah blah. unfortunately,we have received many such referrals just lately, consequently it will be at least 8 weeks before i can get to see you regarding this, hope this is not too inconvenient, blah blah. there were 5 spelling mistakes,3 crap punctuations, and 2 cases of english grammar which would've earned me a detention at school.
thats EIGHT bloody weeks i now have to wait, which considering it was july when i first contacted them asking for an assessment,is a little bit much. now,ok i am not desperate,my mum is good as gold, but i wonder just how many poor bloody carers are desperate, for a break, for some respite.frankly it's disgusting. sorry to run on,but i do feel that social services are run on same lines as so many government run organisations. Too many "managers" and not enough of those who do all the work. Take care all.
