like old friends

on wednesday i took mum to chiropodists.  who  is  very pleased  how mums toe is looking, the infection  seems to have cleared up,my dressing  it every  day  has obviously  done the trick, although  the  toe with  the  gout  in bad,is  still very  sore, she had to cut  the uric acid crystals  out  of it again.  but  at  least  mum doesnt have to go until july to see her again, unless it gets worse.so  one  less thing to worry about. we got home around 1.30       and  after  quick lunch i  decided  to  finally go for it,and get  all the hanging baskets and containers out of greenhouse  and  into  their places.   all looking  good  now, growing away  madly.   and  my  house  looks  great  lol.   afraid today  i bought another 30 busy lizzies,so planted up another  3 hanging baskets and  2 troughs with  them.they can keep in  greenhouse until  they  get  bigger.     ok  but         watering  is  fun  lol   takes   me  good   hour  every  night, they  soon dry out      my  front faces  south  so  bakes  in  sun all day long.  i will post  pics  soon.

on  thursday  C  mums  volunteer  visitor  turned  up,as promised   at  2pm.  i  made  them both a cuppa, and  left  them  too it.  i  had  planned on going to wells, but  as  i am rather  skint,i decided  instead  to  do  the front garden, cut  the hedge  and lawn, and  clean up.       which  i did.   when i went indoors, nearly  2 hours  later  i found C  and  mum  still talking  lol        got  on  like house  on  fire.  so much  so  that  c is coming  next  thursday.        both  seem to have enjoyed  themselves,  and  mum  was  really pleased;      so  am i.   bless her, her  days are  long, and  a visit  from someone  makes  it  go so much quicker.    i  wish my  neibours, who keep promising  to call and see mum, would      instead  of promises  get  off their backsides  and  come round.    i am sure        he  said  sarcastically       it's  a  coincidence,   but  1       who  used to come round  without fail  every  2 weeks,  hasnt been to  see mum since  last  year.     just  around  the time  i found  out  it  was  MS  i  had.       now  no-one  is  so bloody  stupid  as  to think  they can  catch   it off me??  surely  not??   does  make  me wonder  though.   and  she does  seem  to  keep  well away  when i see her  outside.  hmmmm      oh  well.      thats  up  to  her.   as  for  the  old  boy  i take  xmas lunch  to,who also used to come  and  see  mum,he  also  seems  to be  keeping  away.   maybe  i should  have  UNCLEAN  painted  on front  door???   lol   kidding.        gritted  teeth  mind.

well,it's  whitsun  bank holiday. which  means         holiday  makers.        as  usual  the  roads  were  busy  today,  we  went  to fakenham     tescos     mum  to  charity  shop  to see friend as  usual.  we  went  early, and were home  just after  2pm.     now  i have  said  this  before,  but  new  readers  may have missed it.        if  you  ever  come  to  north norfolk, and  explore  our narrow  back roads,   and  indeed  some  of our  main  roads,  you will find a lot  of  these  roads  do  not  have  a white line  down the centre of the road.  many  are  very  narrow.        now, just  so you all know.      if a road  doesn't  have  a  white line  down  the centre,it  DOES NOT mean  you can take  up all the bloody  road,  neither  does  your  car  magically  shrink        so  please,   bloody well pull over        i  realise  your  nice  new  clean car  may  get  a  bit  dirty  having  to  go up  grass             but  i  stop         to  let idiots  like  you  get  by.      the  next  one  you  meet  may  not.        hence  the pile of broken mirror  glass  on  main road  through  village.   its  narrow  lol         2  cant  get  by each  other           but  they  try.  of  course  if they came  through  at  the  speed limit  which  is  20mph         maybe  they  could  stop  quicker?  oh  well, rant  over         have a lovely, safe, bank holiday.   take care all

I am so happy your Mother & the volunteer got on so well.  I found most people who came around when Dad was more "well," didn't once he was sick, then even less so when I was ill.  It is them, not you.  Certain characters like fairweathered visits, & no other. You are doing as much as you can for your Mother, & she can sense that. ~Mary

It's Memorial Day weekend on this side of the pond.  Most will not work on Monday and all banks and postal services will be closed.  I'm so glad your mum found a friend and they got along so well.  It will help you out too Mort...although I don't know what it's going to take to slow you down with all your gardening and such.
Hugs, Joyce

Morning Mort, glad that all went well with Mum's visitor yesterday. Fingers crossed that it will last. Glad that you got all the baskets out etc.  You must use some energy getting everything done...not to mention the watering in the evening. Please take care you mustn't overdo things. Maybe you shouild be thinking of easier ways to be doing the garden in the longer term. I'm afraid I have not much energy and so can only use about three water can's full before I have to stop,,if I am not finished I come in and go out again in half an hour or so if the energy has come back !! Looking forwadr to seeing photos in due course. Mary and I are away for 5 days on Monday to Llandudno so will be looking at dozens of journals I have no doubt when we get back....Much Love Sybil x

Hi Mort,
I'm so glad your Mum enjoyed her visit with C. Sounds like it was good for all of you. Glad her feet are better, too.
Weird about your neighbors. I don't understand that?? People sure can be crazy sometimes.
Your roads sound scary to me! I'm used to very well marked roads here. If I were on a small road like that I'd be going to SLOW that it would make everyone behind me grouchy! LOL!  So...if I ever make it to England maybe YOU can do the driving....deal??
Have a good Holiday weekend.
Love, Pam xoxox

Hey Mort,  I am so glad that yoiur mums toes are doing better.  It is to bad her gout toe does not heal.  I have never known any one who had it but I have read that it is painful.  Take a picture Mort of all your flowers.  I would love to see them.  I take it you have a problem with traffic there also.  You tell em Mort!!!  I know how it is when people start staying away when  when people find out when someone is sick, but as you said MS is not contagious and when someone stops in for just a while, it would make your mum 's day shorter.  Lucy

Mort I am glad your Mum enjoyed having her visitor ~ it will do her the world of good to have someone to chat to ~ I know what you mean about those narrow roads we have them here and there are places for overtaking but some drivers choose to ignore them ~ I have had my wing mirror taken off twice by such drivers ~ you sound like you have been busy as usual I bet your garden looks great with all those flowers and baskets ~ you take care of yourself and lots of love to Mum ~ Ally x

The gout problem sounds terrible.  My Bro-in Law suffers from it, but it has not come to the point of Mum's yet , thank God.
We have some roads just as you describe over here also, Mort.  Amazing the folks with no consideration.  Think of no one but themselves.
Have a happy holiday! ..............  Jack

I thought she would when you first mentioned it.  Please dont let it bother you that the neihbors are acting stupid. just keep being your own wonderful self. They must be miserable and selfish people . their loss anyway.  you have many friends who love you and wish you and mum the best. I am sure you are an important person in my life way over here in alabama !  lol  ever since i read it in your journal i have been telling folks how much petrol cost for you and boy do they shut up griping about our 3.75 dollar cost here! i DONT read or listen to the news  reports so when I say I have  afriend in England and he says so I become an instant authority on the subject  lol  . thank you for the birthday card, love june

Hey Mort,
Glad your mum enjoyed her visit.  Maybe sometimes people just do not know how to react or what to say, like your neighbors.  Unfortunately you may have to educate people on MS so they are more comfortable and can understand how to interact.  Oh NO! No white lines, I think I better stay here.  I could wind up missing a whole half of a car.  Mort what is whitsun bank holiday?

you are right hun,my best friend has MS,since she found out Im her only friend left, poor her lol,but its true people are ignorant and therefore assume that they can catch things or will have to go to the trouble of sympathising, when they are so damn busy, mind you they are not real friends then are they? I am having problems with hubbys family, well they dont like me because I have my own opinions, but lately theyve been relentless, they knew my dad was ill and picked the day of his results to slag me off to my hubby, nice people eh? So I am a TAD stressed to say the least but I shall battle on,mind you how I find the time Ill never know as according to them,I sleep with every man I meet,Im teaching my children how to be chavs and making my hubby unhappy, boy Im knackered ! Still I must go the milkman awaits, seeing as the butcher, the baker, the postman and the delivery man are late, ahh a womans work is never done, take care zoe xxxxxxxxxxxx
