i havent posted for a while, and let me just say also, neither am i reading or commenting on many journals. please dont be offended anyone if i havent dropped by. truth is i just havent felt like it. theres a jolly little side effect of MS,called optic neuritis. and ive had it lol. how to describe it?? hmmm think, sharp stabbing pain behind the left eyeball as though some malicious imp with a pitchfork is jabbing away at it. somewhere near. in laymans terms. it bloody hurts. my vision was impaired to, bit blurry.so kept at home. luckily by thursday it had calmed down ( thank god it only lasts a few days, although its bad tonight again.) and i was able to take mum to the chiropodists. she was in heaven, lol had a hunky male chiropodist this time. nice bloke, mum liked him and he is pleased how her toe has healed. the gout is still bad in her toes though,it always will be i think now. on friday i took her to the health centre to have her blood taken and i was pleased to find that although Dr.M is away, lindas letter had been read by Dr.E the other partner and he has prescribed me 2 new tablets to take baclofen instead of the gabapentin i have been taking and a new one, pregabalin i shall soon rattle lol. i am pleased tosay, unlike the last tablets linda tried me with these seem to have no side effects, and the pain in my ankle and legs is a lot better, so hopefully they are doing some good. ( i did read the leaflet with both big mistake lol. though i am intrigued,as preabalin does say may cause "changes in sexual interest" as a side effect. isnt Gordon Brown kinda hunky?? ya think?? lol ) we then went to fakenham and shopped. got home early fish and chips too lovely.
yesterday, although eye was hurting it doesnt stop me much. ( and it is only a temporary thing. hopefully it wont get worse.please. ) i decided to have a clean, the weather is lousy, cool wind, cloudy, showers, and i couldnt get out in garden, so i washed kitchen floor and bleached sink, bathroom the same, and then i shamppoed the carpets. my vax was going for ages. lovely clean carpets. and a very knackered mort. today i just cooked lunch, roast chicken, you should have came to lunch, plenty spare.lol and then yep went to bed until 5. sleeping a lot better as the pain in my legs is not waking me. touch wood.
so, i shall get around to reading your journals my friends, sometimes my alerts work, often not. one that did was indigo of Raven's Lament sadly i note she too is ill,and is taking a break from journalling. Indigo i for one miss your wonderful entries but know exactly how you feel. let us wish her every good wish, and may she come back soon. you are a lovely person Indigo. God bless hun. as for you all, thank you for your kind comments. they help me more than you can possibly imagine.
just one last thing, those tomatoes i am growing?? nice picture last entry? big red toatoes?? tasty mmmmmmmm. they are bloody awful. lol. my neighbour gave me the plants,he had them given him,so neither of us know what variety they are. suffice to say its a shame as neither of us want to EVER grow this variety again. they are tasteless tough skinned prone to "greenback" as they are such big fruit. you get the picture?? lol it maybe the weather has a lot to do with it,if we got some hot sun,it may help the flavour. oh well, i put some in freezer today, i keep them for cooking. one tip. tomatoes freeze well, and are great then in stews ans casseroles, i just take out how many i want, hold them under a hot tap,and the skins just peel away easily. see, cookery and garden tips. well, i shall be back again soon, eyes permitting, until then take care all

Glad to hear from you. sorry about the pills and the eye problems. I need new specs and unfortunately can't come up with the money right now. My pain is on the left side between the ear and eye, stress I believe and eye strain. Shame about the tomatoes. i was hoping someone had some good ones. My plants are so beautiful and full of little green globes. I doubt that they will mature before THE MOVE. If I see your imps I will poke them with my packing scissors! Love and hugs, Dannelle
Was wondering where you were. So sorry about the eye problem Mort, but glad the new medicine seems to be helping your legs. Also glad to hear that mum's toe is so much better. As for the tomatoes, I think I would pick them green and have fried green tomatoes. That should help the flavor a lot.
Hugs, Joyce
Hi Mort, I'm so sorry you are having eye problems. I can't imagine how awful that must be. I hope it resolves very soon.
Sounds like you've definitely kept your sense of humor about it all, though. You are such a sweetie. Take care of yourself.
Love ya,
Pam xoxox
I am keeping you and indigo in my prayers I hope you feel better soon

I won't be around this week either as we leave in the morning 6.30 to drive up to Edinburgh should get there by 6ish I would think as we have to make a stop at Worcester to see Mike and collect Jacqueline's ashes. It is going to be a very very hard week Mort so any prayers would be appreciated...will be back Frid/Sat. Take care friend. ( I am taking MAry to Bristol Airport this afternoon for her holiday to Edinburgh she is away for 3 weeks. I expect will miss her aftyer a week or two !! but it will be nice to have the house to myself and able to read a few books etc.) it is not so easy when folks are around and when she does go home around 6.30pm it is my time for the 'puter !! Love for now Sybil xx
Sorry to hear you have been having eye pain due to the medication Mort. I do hope it settles down. Sounds as if the new medication suits you as your ankle is much better. Lol at the change in sexual interest. I shall tell Mike to put on steel drawers lol. Shame about the tomatoes but I have often found that those large ones are tasteless.

Yay! You are back!!! So glad your doctor got you sorted out and on new meds. You have been taking such good care of your mum. God bless both of you.
I freeze tomatoes too. usually when i buy one it gets cut and then the rest of it lanquishes in the fridge. so i throw it into a bag with the other bits and scraps of tomato and when i make a soup or stew , there they are! lol
Roast chicken, yummy! you always seem to make the most delicious sounding meals. puts me to shame. lol
So sorry about the eye pain. I am sure it is worse than a toothache and those are horrible enough. No wonder you arent able to read the journals or make an entry sometimes. my vision is blurry because of the diabetes. later in the day it clears up. its not nearly as bothersome as what you experience. Bless your heart. I will be keeping you and mum in my thoughts and prayers as usual. sending a big hug, june
i forgot to say that i mentioned you in my journal entry today!
Sorry about the eyes. Just very good it clears up before you get hit again with it. Glad the pills are helping the pain. Sorry about tomatos. Thought I was going to get a basket fed ex'd. lol You take care Mort and I will probably be sending you an email. I usually do as you knoiw. Especially if I need gardening advice. Lucy
Mort sorry to hear you are having eye problems ~ hope that dosn't last too long ~ glad the new meds are helping and the pain in your legs isn't so bad ~ good news about "Mums" toe healing well ~ Sounds like you have been as busy as ever ~ and the Dinner you cooked sounded delicious ~ Sad about your tomatoes if you find out what they are let us know so we won't grow them :o) ~ You take care of yourself ~ We went to Fakenham last Friday naturally visited the Chocolate Factory :o) ~ Ally x
Had to add Mort, no wonder those tomatoes were passed around. The original owner knew why he did not want them . LOL Lucy
So sorry about your eye. I can only imagine how painful. I've taken the gabapentin a couple yrs ago for sciatic pain that stabbed me in the left leg unmercifully. It worked and only too half of them and no more leg pain since. Can't say the same for lower left of back but just deal with that one. You sure did a lot of work there:).......alice
Terribly sorry you haven't been feeling too great. YOu sound like such a trooper. Probably having Mum to care for gives yo the kick you need to keep on keeping on.
Thanks for the tip on tomatoes. I do not think I have ever heard anyone say they have frozen them.
hang in there. It is just good to see you were fit to make an entry.
Jack
I'm sorry you haven't been feeling well, and I certainly hope that pain leaves you soon. It's good to see you posting.
Lori
